yesterday i got my GIH from Jet, which is the handbook covering everything under the sun. tons and tons of information about living in Japan, the workplace, contracts and taxes, and being safe in the country itself. the GIH included a DVD which i watched before bed last night. it's so fascinating and made me THRILLED for the adventure to come. the most interesting information so far is about how my apartment lease will transfer over to me from the JET who was in Himi previously (her name is Linda).
THEN this morning i got an email from a guy who is a JET in Himi currently, and will continue on next year as well. he said everything is all set at my "contracting organization"- all the paperwork has been received and the ball will start rolling forward. he also said Linda should be contacting me soon, so i can ask her the million questions bouncing around in my head. mostly i'm curious about what to pack-- how many dressy outfits do i need? what kind of decor/ household things should i bring from home? i really hope she sends me pictures of the place where i'll be living... i LOVE to plan for those kind of things!
