As i get incredibly close to time for departure, thoughts flood my head like the rains i know will come to Himi this fall. i doubt i'll be able to sleep at all the next 4 nights in america; i have all these ideas, plans, concerns, questions, dream, & fears...
first big realization of the week: it's terrible to look at pictures of a place you know and love, without being in any of those photos. covenant acres seems to have been amazing this summer (as it is always, i'm sure) but it's heart wrenching to see what i did not experience for myself. i'm sure i made the right decision to stay home and invest there these past 10 weeks, but i definitely missed out on something special. so i guess i should say i think and hope i made the right decision. certainty is not my forte.
second HUGE realization of the week: 50 pounds per bag is nothing!! i thought it would be no problem to fit a years worth of clothes, toiletries, and omiyage into two suitcases. it was hard work that i hope never to do again. i had to pick and choose whether things [such as running shoes] would be vital to my life in japan... obviously, i have my priorities straight since my "athletic" sneakers got put back in my closet. haha... pitiful. but at least i'll be riding my bike everyday :)
third gigantic realization of the week: i'm going to miss my family and friends like MAD. this whole past week was filled with "see ya laters" which i took easily in stride until this very hour. the significance of each of my loved ones is pouring through my heart right now; i can't even begin to consider how i'll survive without them this year.
fourth monstrous realization of the week: i can't wait to leave!!! i'm sooooooo excited for the adventure to come!!! japan is fascinating to me; i'm thrilled to make new friends and have crazy explorations. i'm dying to set up my apartment and get settled into routine. bring on saturday morning :)
